The Contixo LA703 Kids and the Orbo Jr are both child-friendly 7″ Android tablets. The tablets each have touchscreens, and the resolutions of them both is identical, at 1024×600 pixels. Each comes with a protective case with strengthened corners designed to help reduce the chance of damage to the tablet, although that of the LA703 comes in a range of colours in two different styles.
Each tablet runs Android, allowing access to the entire Android app and content infrastructure, including Google Play, which is pre-installed on both devices. The LA703 runs a higher version of Android, 4.4 KitKat, compared to the Orbo’s version, 4.1.2 Jelly Bean.
The LA703 comes with 8GB of memory, whilst the Orbo Jr. only has 4GB. The memory on each tablet can be expanded, using a memory card in the memory card slot, by 32GB, taking the LA703 to a maximum 40GB and the Orbo a maximum of 36.
Each tablet has stereo speakers and a headphone jack, as well as a built-in microphone. Each also has two cameras, a front facing one and a rear. The rear facing cameras on both tablets are 2.0 megapixel (MP) in resolution, but the front facing one on the Orbo is 1.3 MP compared to the Contixo’s 0.3 MP.
Each tablet has also WiFi, allowing access to the internet, and a micro-USB port for connecting to other devices, or charging the battery. The Contixo tablet also has a DC power socket for charging it. The LA703 has a quad core processor, whilst the Orbo Jr. only has a dual core.
The LA703 comes with parental controls, provided by Zoodles, whilst the Orbo Jr. lacks any parental controls out of the box, requiring some to be installed. This makes the LA703 much more kid safe initially.
The LA703 can also have a one-year “worry-free” guarantee purchased, to further protect the tablet against accidental damage and other problems.
The Contixo LA703 Kids is, in general, a better tablet than the Orbo Jr. with higher specifications that is available for a slightly higher price.
