The nabi 2S and the Orbo Jr are both 7″ Android tablets designed for children, so what are the differences between the two tablets? Both tablets come with touchscreens; the resolution of the Orbo Jr’s is 1024×600 pixels whilst that of the nabi 2S is higher, at 1280×800 pixels. Each comes with a protective bumper with strengthened corners intended to reduce the chances of damage should the tablet be dropped.
Each tablet is an Android tablet, and both run Jelly Bean, although that of the 2S is slightly newer as it runs 4.2 compared to the Orbo Jr’s 4.1.2. Each also has access to Google Play and the Amazon Appstore, although on the nabi 2S these can only be used from Mommy/Daddy Mode.
With regards to their memory, the nabi 2S comes with 16 gigabytes (GB) of internal memory, which is very high for a children’s tablet and quadruple the Orbo Jr’s 4GB. Each tablet can also have their memory expanded using a memory card in the micro SD card slot, taking memory cards up to 32GB in both cases.
Both tablets have stereo speakers, a built-in microphone and a headphone jack. The nabi 2S only has one camera, a front-facing 2.0 megapixel (MP) resolution camera, whilst the Orbo Jr has two, a rear-facing 2.0 MP and a front facing 1.3MP.
Each tablet has WiFi, allowing internet access, but the nabi 2S also has Bluetooth, as well as NFC. The Orbo Jr has a micro USB port, whilst the nabi has the company’s own nabi Connector port. The nabi 2S has a quad core processor, with a fifth battery saving backup processor, whilst the processor of the Orbo is only a dual core.
The nabi 2S has parental controls, with it being possible to control various activities from Mommy/Daddy Mode and, in the child’s nabi Mode, internet access is through Fooz Kids. The nabi 2S also has access to Fooz University, a series of educational lessons.
The nabi 2S is a substantially more expensive tablet than the Orbo Jr, but it is also a substantially more powerful one.
