Does the nabi 2S Have Any Parental Controls?

Padlock with KeyIn today’s world, parental controls are increasingly important in order to make sure that children only have access to appropriate material online and to monitor who they communicate with. Whether or not a tablet designed for children comes with parental controls built-in can be an important factor in the buying process.

The nabi 2S has something called Mommy/Daddy Mode designed to be used by parents. In this mode, the tablet functions like a normal Android tablet. Outside of this mode, in nabi Mode, it functions in a much more limited manner. To switch between the modes requires a password to be entered. In this mode, parents can add or remove apps from the children’s mode, control and manage a kid’s account contents, and manage the Chore List, which gives children a means of earning nabi Coins by doing assigned household chores. Daily limits can also be set on tablet and individual app usage, and rules can be created for earning more time. Websites that you approve can also be added to a child’s account. The health of the tablet can also be monitored.

The 500 apps available in the nabi App Zone are also manually selected and kid-approved apps, that have parental advisories and ratings (more apps can be added using the Amazon Appstore in Mommy/Daddy Mode). Within nabi Mode, children only have access to approved kid-safe websites.
