The Fire HD 10 Kids Edition and the Dragon Touch X10 Kids are both 10.1″ tablets designed for children, so how do they compare? Though both tablets have the same size screens, the resolution of the HD 10 is better, at 1920×1220 pixels compared to the 1280×800 pixels of the X10. Both tablets come with a protective case in a number of colours and both cases have an integral stand.
Though both tablets are Android tablets, the HD 10 Kids runs Amazon’s own offshoot of the operating system, and lacks access to Google Play as a result, instead getting content from the Amazon Appstore. The X10 in contrast is a more typical Android tablet, running 7.0 Nougat and has access to Google Play.
The HD 10 Kids Edition comes with 32 gigabytes (GB) of internal memory, double the 16 GB of the X10. Each tablet also has a memory card slot, with that of the HD 10 Kids taking memory cards up to 512 GB in size compared to the 64 GB of the X10. Both tablets also have WiFi, Bluetooth and a micro USB port but the X10 Kids also has an HDMI slot and a DC charging port.
Both tablets have front and rear facing cameras and in both cases each camera has a 2.0 megapixel resolution.
Each tablet has parental controls. Those on the HD 10 Kids are provided by Amazon themselves whilst the X10 uses third party parental controls from Kidoz. Both sets of parental controls have a range of features, allowing usage and sites that can be visited controlled. The HD 10 has a superior listed battery life, at 12 hours compared to the 5 hours of the X10.
The HD 10 Kids Edition comes with a year’s included subscription to Amazon FreeTime Unlimited, which has over 20,000 pieces of hand curated and age appropriate material, including games, apps, ebook, Audible books, films and television series. It also comes with Amazon’s two-year “worry-free” guarantee which covers against defects in its manufacture.
Both tablets are the same size, but the HD10 has superior internal memory and memory card capacity, as well as a higher resolution screen and more included content. The X10, by comparison, is only better with the two extra ports. The HD 10 beats the Dragon tablet in most other ways. The Fire HD 10 Kids Edition is a generally superior tablet to the Dragon Touch X10 Kids.
