The iRulu 7″ Kids Tablet and the Dragon Touch X10 Kids are both tablets designed for children, so how do they compare? The first significant difference is the size, as the Kids Tablet is a 7″ tablet and the X10 is a larger, 10.1″ tablet. The Kids Tablet has a screen resolution of 1024×600 pixels whilst the X10’s resolution is higher at 1280×800 pixels. Both tablets come with a protective case in a range of colours but the X10’s case has an integral stand.
Both tablets are Android tablets; the Kids Tablet runs 7.1 Nougat out of the box and the X10 the marginally older 7.0 Nougat. Both tablets have access to Google Play.
Both tablets come with 16 gigabytes (GB) of internal memory and both come with a memory card slot. The memory card slot of the Kids Tablet can take cards up to 32 GB in size whilst that of the X10 can take cards up to 64 GB. Each tablet comes with WiFi, Bluetooth and a micro USB port; the X10 also comes with a DC charging port and a micro HDMI port.
Both tablets come with front and rear facing cameras. The rear cameras on both have a resolution of 2.0 megapixels (MP) but the front facing camera on the Kids Tablet is poorer, with only a 0.3 MP resolution compared to the 2.0 MP resolution of the X10.
Both tablets come with third party parental controls. Those on the Kids Tablet are provided by iWawa whilst those on the X10 are from Kidoz. The X10’s controls are more fully featured; as well as being able to control what sites children can visit, Kidoz also has an integral app store, a regulated store with suitable content. The battery life of the Kids Tablet is listed as being 3-5 hours; that of the X10 is listed as being 5 hours.
The biggest initial difference between the two tablets is the size, which may or may not be an advantage. Smaller hands may find holding the bigger tablet more difficult, although the integral stand does help there. The internal memory is the same and both tablets are Android tablets. The front facing camera on the X10 is superior, the memory card storage is larger and it has the additional charging port and micro HDMI port. The parental controls are also probably better. The iRulu 7″ Kids Tablet is a smaller tablet whilst the Dragon Touch X10 Kids is a generally technically superior, albeit larger, tablet.
