The Fire HD 10 Kids Edition and the Tagital T10K are both 10.1″ tablets designed for children, so how do they compare? The screen resolution of the HD 10 is better than that of the T10K, being 1920×1220 pixels compared to 1280×800 pixels. Both tablets come with protective cases in different colours and both have an integral stand.
Both tablets are Android tablets, but the T10K is a pure Android tablet, running 6.0 Marshmallow with access to Google Play, whilst the HD 10 runs on Amazon’s own offshoot of the Android OS, and lacks access to Google Play, instead getting content from the Amazon Appstore.
The HD 10 comes with 32 gigabytes (GB) of internal memory, double the 16 GB of the T10K. Both have memory card slots but the HD 10 can take memory cards up to 512 GB in size compared to 32 GB for the T10K. Each tablet has WiFi, Bluetooth and a micro USB port; the T10K also has a DC charging port.
Both tablets have front and rear facing cameras. On both, the resolution of the rear facing camera is the same, 2.0 megapixels (MP). The front facing camera on the HD 10 is significantly better, 2.0 MP compared to 0.3 MP for the T10K.
Each tablet comes with parental controls. Those on the T10K are from iWawa, which allows a parent to control tablet usage and what children have access to. The parental controls on the HD 10 are through Amazon and are more fully featured.
The HD 10 comes with a year’s subscription to Amazon FreeTime Unlimited. This has over 20,000 hand curated pieces of content suitable for children, including books, Audible books, games, apps, television programmes and films. The tablet also has Amazon’s two year “worry-free” guarantee which covers against defects in its manufacture.
Though both tablets are the same size, that is about the only similarity. The HD 10 is superior to the T10K in almost every way. It has more internal memory, greater memory card capacity, a better front facing camera, better parental controls and more included content. The T10K only equals it with the rear facing camera. The Fire HD 10 Kids Edition is a more technically powerful tablet than the Tagital T10K.
