Tablet Comparison: Which is Better, the Dragon Touch K8 Kids or the Samsung Galaxy Tab E Lite Kids?

Dragon Touch K8 KidsThe Dragon Touch K8 Kids and the Samsung Galaxy Tab E Lite Kids are both tablets designed for children so how do they compare? The first difference is the size; the K8 Kids is a larger than normal 8″ tablet whilst the Tab E is a more standard 7″. The K8 Kids has a screen resolution of 1280×800 pixels whilst that of the Tab E is 1024×600 pixels; tablets with larger screens typically have higher resolutions. The K8 Kids comes with a two-tone protective case with integral stand and attached stylus. The Tab E comes with a protective silicone bumper in pale green.

Both tablets are Android tablets with the K8 Kids running 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box and the Tab E running the older 4.4 KitKat. Both tablets can access Google Play and the content available from it.

The K8 Kids comes with 16 gigabytes (GB) of internal memory, double the 8 GB of the Tab E. Both tablets have quad core processors. Both tablets come with WiFi, Bluetooth and a micro USB port. The K8 Kids has 2 GB RAM compared to the 1GB of the Tab E.

The K8 Kids has front and rear cameras, with the front facing one having 2.0 megapixel (MP) resolution and the rear-facing having 5.0 MP. The Tab E by contrast has only a single, 2.0 MP rear-facing camera. Both have headphone jacks and single speakers.

Both tablets come with parental controls. Those on the K8 Kids are provided by KIDOZ whilst those on the Tab E come through the subscription-based Samsung Kids. Three months subscription is included and Samsung Kids also has educational and entertainment content. KIDOZ also has included educational and entertainment content.

The K8 Kids is a bigger tablet, but one with better resolution, more RAM, more internal storage and two cameras, with the rear-facing one having substantially higher resolution than that of the Tab E Lite. It also runs a more recent version of Android and the parental controls may well be better. The Tab E does have far better stated battery life though. Although battery life of tablets varies a lot depending on what use it is put to, the battery life of the K8 Kids is really quite poor. The Dragon Touch K8 Kids is in the majority of ways technically superior to the Samsung Galaxy Tab E Lite Kids.
