Tablet Comparison: Dragon Touch X10 Kids vs Dragon Touch K8 Kids

Dragon Touch X10 KidsThe Dragon Touch X10 Kids and the Dragon Touch K8 Kids are both tablets designed for children from Tablet Express, so how do they compare? The first difference is the size, as the X10 Kids is a 10.1″ tablet whilst the K8 Kids is an 8″ tablet – both tablets are larger than the still-typical 7″ kids tablet. The resolution of both tablets is the same, at 1280×800 pixels. The X10 Kids comes with a case in several colours that has an integral stand; the K8 Kids comes with a protective two-tone case with a different type of integrated stand that also has an attached stylus.

Both tablets are Android tablets with the X10 Kids running 7.0 Nougat out of the box and the K8 Kids running the older 6.0 Marshmallow. Both tablets come with Google Play pre-installed.

Each tablet comes with 16 gigabytes (GB) of internal memory and a memory card slot. On the X10 Kids the memory card slot will take cards up to 64 GB in size compared to the K8 Kids’ memory card slot that will take ones up to 32 GB in size. Both tablets comes with WiFi, Bluetooth and a micro USB port; the X10 Kids also has a micro HDMI port and a DC charging jack.

Each tablet has front and rear facing cameras. On the X10 Kids, both cameras are 2.0 megapixels (MP) in resolution; on the K8 Kids the front-facing camera has a 2.0 MP resolution and the rear-facing one 5.0 MP resolution. Each has a headphone jack and a single speaker.

The battery life for both tablets is less than brilliant, but the listed 5 hours for the X10 Kids is still better than the 3 hours listed for the K8 Kids. Even though battery life does vary depending on the use the tablet is put to, but in neither case is the listed life that impressive.

The parental controls on both tablets are provided by Kidoz, which also has some educational material built-in as well as other included content. Both tablets also come with some Disney ebooks and audio books included.

The first difference between the two tablets is, of course, the size. Depending on what it is intended for, a larger tablet may or may not be preferred. It is surprising that the X10 Kids doesn’t have higher resolution though. The X10 Kids runs a newer version of Android, but the rear-facing camera is significantly poorer. The micro HDMI port and DC charging jack the X10 Kids have are nice extras, but not that significant. The listed battery life of the X10 Kids being longer is definitely better. Being able to take larger memory cards is also useful. Other features on the tablets, bar the stylus and case of the K8 Kids, are generally similar. The main difference is really that the Dragon Touch X10 Kids is a larger tablet than the Dragon Touch K8 Kids and runs a newer version of Android.
