The Tagital T10K and the Dragon Touch K8 Kids are both tablets designed for children, so how do they compare? The initial difference is the size, with the T10K being a 10.1″ tablet compared to the 8″ K8 Kids. However, the resolution of both tablets is the same, at 1280×800 pixels. The T10K comes with a protective case available in a number of colours with an integral stand. The K8 Kids only comes with a two-tone case. This also has an integral stand, although of a different type, and an attached stylus.
Both tablets are Android tablets and both run the same version out of the box, 6.0 Marshmallow. Both come with Google Play pre-installed.
Both tablets come with 16 gigabytes (GB) of internal memory and a memory card slot that will take memory cards up to 32 GB in size. Both tablets have WiFi, Bluetooth and a micro USB port; the T10K also has a DC charging port.
Each tablet has front and rear facing cameras. The resolution of the cameras on the T10K isn’t know for certain, but it’s believed that the front-facing camera has a resolution of 0.3 megapixels (MP) and the rear-facing one a resolution of 2.0 MP. The K8 Kids has a front facing camera resolution of 2.0 MP and a rear facing resolution of 5.0 MP.
Neither tablet’s battery life is that great, even though listed battery life is highly variable depending on use. The listed 5 hours for the T10K is still better than the 3 hours listed for the K8 Kids.
Both tablets have third party parental controls. Those on the T10K are from iWawa whilst those on the K8 Kids are from Kidoz. The Kidoz controls have some built-in educational content and the K8 Kids also comes with some Disney ebooks and audio books included.
The first major difference between the two tablets is the size, as the T10K is the larger tablet, although the screen resolution is not better. A larger tablet may, or may not, be a benefit or a liability, depending on the usage. Both tablets run the same version of Android but the K8 Kids has better cameras, better parental controls and some included content. The battery life on the K8 Kids is quite poor though. In general, the Tagital T10K is a technically poorer tablet, although it has better battery life, than the Dragon Touch K8 Kids.
