Both the Orbo Jr and the Kurio 7S are child-friendly 7″ Android tablets with 1024×600 pixel touchscreen displays, so what are the differences between the two?
Both tablets run Android Jelly Bean but, out of the box, the 7S runs a slightly higher version currently, 4.2 compared to the Orbo’s 4.1.2.
The Kurio 7S has 8GB of internal memory, expandable to 40GB using the Micro SD Card port, whilst the Orbo Jr comes with 4GB which can be expanded by an additional 32GB using that devices memory card slot.
Both devices have stereo speakers and a 3.5mm audio jack suitable for headphones, although the Kurio’s jack comes with a mic pin, allowing headphones with microphones to be used. They both also have a built in microphone.
Both come with two cameras, one front facing and one rear. The Orbo Jr’s cameras are 1.3 megapixel (MP) and 2.0MP for the front and rear respectively, whilst the Kurio 7S’s are 0.3MP and 2.1MP, for front and rear.
The Kurio 7S comes with access to the Kurio Store for apps, and additional stores can be installed. The Orbo Jr comes with Google Play installed. Both come with a number of pre-loaded apps.
Both tablets have built-in WiFi and a micro USB port, for charging and connecting to other devices..
Most features, except for the front-facing camera, are slightly better on the Kurio 7S than on the Orbo Jr, and the ability to control profiles on the 7S makes it more child safe.
