The InnoTab MAX and the Contixo LA703 Kids are both 7″ children’s tablets. Both have touchscreens, and the resolution of both is 1024×600. The Contixo comes with a case with strengthened corners, whilst the hardware of the InnoTab is designed specifically for children, with a cover that functions as a stand and can also be removed, as well as several controls built into it.
Each tablet runs Android, 4.2.2 for the InnoTab and 4.4 for the Contixo. However, the Contixo will work as a regular Android tablet with access to the full Android infrastructure, whilst the MAX only has access to approved apps from the InnoTab store.
Both tablets come with 8GB of internal memory, and both also have a microSD memory card slot, which will take cards up to 32GB, expanding the maximum available memory to 40GB.
The MAX has a speaker, a microphone and a headphone jack, whilst the LA703 has stereo speakers, as well as the microphone and headphone jack. The LA703 comes with two cameras, a rear facing 2.0 megapixel (MP) camera and a front facing 0.3 MP. The MAX only has one camera, with a 2.0 MP resolution. This camera is swivel mounted, however, which means that it can be used as both a front facing and a rear facing camera, as well as point in between.
Both tablets come with WiFi and a micro-USB slot for connecting to other devices. The processor of the MAX is dual core whilst that of the LA703 is quad core. The MAX also comes with a cartridge slot, which will take cartridges from the InnoTab range.
Both tablets come with parental controls. Those on the LA703 are provided by Zoodles, whilst those on the InnoTab mean that children can only visit approved sites and download approved apps from the InnoTab store. Despite the quality of the Contixo’s controls, those of the InnoTab are more stringent.
These tablets are designed for different purposes. The InnoTab MAX is an educational tablet, which happens to run on an Android base, and you can keep track of your child’s progress when they use the InnoTab cartridges, with the hardware designed for children, whilst the LA703 is more of a general purpose tablet that is intended to be used by children.
