The LA703-Kids and the Kids Q102 are both tablets designed for children made by Contixo, so what are the differences between the two tablets? They are both children’s tablets, but the biggest difference is the size.
The LA703-Kids is a 7″ tablet, a fairly standard size for both children’s and adult’s tablets. The Q102 is, however, bigger, being a 10.1″ tablet. The screen resolution of both tablets is the same, at 1024×600; the Q102 just has a bigger screen to display things on. Each tablet has a protective silicone gel case with strengthened corners to reduce the chance of damage. The case is available in a wide range of colours, but the LA703’s case also comes in two different designs.
Each tablet is an Android tablet, with the Q102 running 4.4 KitKat as standard, as does the LA703. Each has access to the full Android ecosystem, and will work like a standard Android tablet as well as one for children. The Q102 has double the internal memory of the LA703, having 16 gigabytes (GB) rather than the 8GB of the smaller tablet. Each tablet’s memory can also be expanded by another 32GB using the Micro-SD card slot. Both tablets run quad core processors, although that of the LA703 is actually slightly faster.
Both tablets have stereo speakers and a 3.5mm headphone jack, as well as a built-in microphone. The Q102 has two micro-USB ports, compared to the one of the LA703, and it also has a mini HDMI port, which the smaller tablet lacks. Each also has a DC charging port. Both tablets have two cameras, a front-facing 0.3 megapixel (MP) and a rear facing 2.0 MP. Each tablet comes with WiFi for connecting to the internet, but the Q102 also has Bluetooth, which the LA703 doesn’t. Each tablet also comes with parental controls, both using Contixo’s standard Zoodles.
The tablets are fairly similar in many ways; the LA703 is slightly faster, but the Q102 has more memory, Bluetooth, more ports, including HDMI (which can be used to output to a television for example) and, probably most importantly, a larger screen. If a larger screen and more internal memory are required, then the Contixo Q102 is a better pick; the extra micro-USB port, the HDMI port and Bluetooth are also nice extras to get.
