There are a number of ways by which tablets can communicate with other devices. WiFi, used for wirelessly connecting to the internet, and ports, which are used to connect to computers and for charging, and in some cases for connecting to televisions and HDMI compatible devices, are the most common. A less common method is Bluetooth, which can be used to wirelessly connect to Bluetooth-enabled devices, not just tablets and phones but also other items such as speakers.
The nabi Jr. comes with another wireless communication method, which is rarely seen in children’s tablets. This is Near Field Communication, or NFC. NFC is a very short range – only a few centimetres – very secure – it’s used for contactless payment solutions – way of transmitting data between two devices. It will only work if both devices have NFC. Nabi tablets are the main tablets for children that come with NFC; it is mostly seen in smartphones.
