Android is the most common operating system used in tablets, and being able to use it gives the tablet access to a large amount of content. Although the Fire HD 10 Kids Edition is technically an Android tablet, it uses Amazon’s own offshoot of the open source operating system, rather than being a pure Android device.
This does mean there are a few differences. Google Play is not available for the HD 10 without some modification that would likely invalidate the guarantee. Instead, users need to download apps from the Amazon Appstore; though that likely has less content than Play, it still has a significant amount.
