How much memory a tablet has is important. The amount of available storage on a tablet determines how much content can be downloaded or created on it. The camera resolutions of children’s tablets are also increasing, and higher resolution cameras produce photographs and videos that take up more space.
Even though a tablet may have a memory card slot, the amount of internal memory is still important. External memory cards are great for downloaded and user-created content, but the operating system and at least a part of every app will need storing on a tablet’s internal memory, so the available storage may actually be less than it would seem after all the necessary apps and OS have used up much of the space.
The nabi DreamTab comes with 16 gigabytes (GB) of internal memory, which is still above average for a children’s tablet; not many tablets have more memory and quite a few have half that. It does also have a memory card slot, allowing the storage to be expanded.
