The LeapPad Ultra features a built-in lithium ion rechargeable battery. The battery is charged using an AC adapter, and can take up to 7 hours to charge on the initial use. Once the battery has received its initial charge, it will then normally take 4 hours to charge.
The tablet will no doubt be sometimes used whilst travelling or when not near to a mains power socket to charge the battery back up again, so a long battery life is definitely useful on longer trips. If travelling by car, there is a car adapter available to buy which will plug into the car’s socket and allow the tablet to charge on the go. This charger also comes with an extra long lead for convenience.
Once charged, the battery life before it will need charging again is up to 9 hours. The amount of time will of course depend on the type of use that the Ultra is put to during that period; some types of use will drain the battery faster than others.
