The LeapPad 3, like the LeapPad Ultra, is part of LeapFrog’s range of educational tablets. The LeapPad 3, like the LeapPad 2 and the Ultra, is aimed at the 3-9 years age group.
The LeapPad 3 is more advanced than the 2, but not as advanced as the Ultra, although it does have a more powerful processor. It has a 5″ capacitive screen, which isn’t as sensitive as the Ultra’s 7″ light touch screen. The Ultra’s resolution is also greater, at 1024×600 pixels to the 3’s 480×237.
Both tablets have 2 MegaPixel front and rear facing cameras, and both have WiFi, allowing internet access to LeapFrog’s approved websites using LeapSearch and local peer-to-peer gaming. Both also have built-in rechargeable lithium ion batteries.
The LeapPad 3 only has 4GB of memory as opposed to the Ultra’s 8 GB, and comes with 10 apps included in the price rather than the Ultra’s 11.
The LeapPad 3 is smaller, and therefore lighter, than the LeapPad Ultra. Both also have access to the LeapFrog App Center and have an accelerometer.
The LeapPad Ultra is a larger version of the LeapPad 3 with more features and a bigger, better screen.
