Parents who are upgrading to the LeapPad Platinum from another LeapFrog device will want to know whether or not games, and other existing content, they have purchased for a previous LeapFrog tablet will work on a Platinum. Given the cost of LeapFrog’s apps and games, this can make a significant difference.
Apps, once purchased, are linked to a LeapFrog parent account, not an individual device. Once the Platinum tablet was been set up and it is connected to WiFi, parents can then, from Parental Mode, choose to download any existing, but not installed, content. Purchased apps can be installed on up to five devices that share a common Parental Account.
As well as apps, there are also cartridges available, which may have already been purchased too. Some will be compatible with the Platinum; others, such as those for LeapTV, are not.
