Ports, along with Bluetooth and WiFi, are one of the ways in which tablets can communicate with other devices and use external accessories.
The Kindle Fire HD 6 Kids Edition comes with a Micro-B USB 2.0 port, which can link the tablet to a suitable television (HDTV) or monitor, to a PC or Macintosh or to charge it using mains power.
It has a 3.5mm audio jack to which external headphones, or a compatible speaker, can be plugged into.
It also comes with a built-in speaker and built-in volume controls.
The case does not prevent the ports from being used.
